What is tofu litter actually made of?
Plant fibre left over from making tofu — food-grade soybean fibre with a natural starch binder. No clay, no silica, no chemicals. It's honestly just food-grade plant material pressed into pellets.
How does this litter help rescue cats?

Is this litter flushable?
Tofu litter dissolves in water, which clay never does. Flush 1–2 clumps at a time and let them sit in the bowl for a minute first. If you're in an older building or a villa on a septic tank, we'd honestly just bin it in a sealed bag to be safe.
Is it safe if my cat eats some? I have a kitten.
Yes, completely. It's made from food-grade plant fibre, so a curious nibble is harmless if swallowed. This is honestly the best litter for kittens, since they taste-test everything.
Will my cat actually use it? Mine is fussy
Most cats take to it easily. The pellets are soft on paws. But don't swap overnight, cats hate that. Mix about 30% tofu into your current litter, go 50/50 after a few days, then fully tofu over a week or so. If your cat hesitates, just hold that mix a bit longer. How long does one bag last?
For a single average-sized cat, one bag typically lasts up to a month with regular daily scooping and a full box change once a month.
How well does it control odour?
Very good. The fibre absorbs liquid fast, and that's where most of the smell comes from. Daily scooping keeps it fresh, same as any litter. Original is unscented, Lavender is lightly scented, Sakura is a soft floral.
Is it dusty? Will it make a mess?
99% dust-free. No cloud when you pour, no sneezing when you scoop. The pellets are too big to stick between paw pads like fine clay does, so no litter trails through the house. You might find the odd pellet kicked near the box, that's about it.
Does it work with my litter box?
All standard open and hooded boxes, and most sifting boxes. If you use an automatic box, check its manual. Most modern ones accept tofu litter, a few want clumping clay only.
